Velva Wins Second Straight North Dakota 1A Football Title

Velva added another chapter to its great football history Friday by capturing its ninth North Dakota Class 1A football championship since 1997.

Velva beat Milnor-North Sargent 25-20 to cap a perfect 12-0 season.  It was the Aggies second straight title.

Wyndmere-Lidgerwood Captures North Dakota 9-Man HIgh School Football Title

Wells County was hoping to go out a high note in Friday's North Dakota 9-Man high school football championship game against Wyndmere-Lidgerwood.

Wyndmere-Ligerwood beat Wells County 54-12 in the Bears last game ever. Next season, Wells County will co-op with Harvey next season because of declining enrollment.

The Warbirds won the title behind Brock Wieber who scored two touchdowns and threw for another. In all, Wyndmere-Lidgerwood have four players throw touchdown passes while setting a new championship game record for points. The old record was 52 by Zeeland in 1977 and 1978.
